The Raiders Identity in 2020

Hello everybody!!!! Hope everyone is well.

With a little less than a month until the start of training camp, I thought it was a good time to catch things up. We have all had to make adjustments and sacrifices and hopefully soon we can get back to some semblance of normalcy. Hopefully we can have football in 2020.

I figured as a fan base we are growing and changing and to stay up and current we have to also use and appreciate what we have. So don't forget to subscribe and follow our development.

Ok, so now to it. I am watching the video for Good Morning Football asking, "Will the Raiders find their identity in 2020?From Al Davis' inception of the Raiders in the 1960's to now, one thing has never changed. The Raiders are a gritty, hard-nosed, blue collar team that was created to be the greatest organization in sports.

From Oakland, to Los Angeles to now Las Vegas they have committed themselves to not just being good, but being excellent. They have always worked hard to improve the team in the off season with major signings and in the draft. Al Davis used to brag, "We don't rebuild, we reload", which in those days would lead to a big free agent signing that kept the team in the talks with the leagues' best teams. But with Mr. Davis' health suffering over the years declining, it left a genius of a man in football having to negotiate contracts which began to leave the books and salary cap in shambles, ultimately hurting the team.

Now those days are gone and we have Gruden and Mike Mayock at the helm. They are working together to use the draft as the major tool, along with free agency, for rebuilding (and reloading!) This year more than any it is really beginning to show.

From the new rookies, to the first, second and third year starters, to the veterans this team has been molded in toughness and character. They are now poised to play and compete at a high level for years to come.

That's what I look at. I judge the identity by the work put in and the Raiders have put in a lot of it.

The Raiders are not just a team in transition to return to a winning culture, they are also on the move to a brand new city, Las Vegas. Always a historic city, Las Vegas, with it’s own traditions and culture will welcome the Raiders with open arms this season. The new Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas will be their new home and finally it will be a stadium built just for them.

However, some say that the Raiders are becoming too Vegas-like, too Vegas friendly, and maybe they are losing an edge. That maybe the distractions of Vegas, the gambling and women will be too much for the squad here. I would argue that in years past this may have been an issue. But the character of the team that they have built has solidified their identity and given them a clear focus. Playoffs or bust this season.

They are in this city to win championships and that's why I am super excited for the future of the Raiders and the city of Las Vegas.

In the stadium murals line the walls. You look at the walls and you can see Marilyn is there, the King of Rock and Roll is there, both rocking the Raiders and they are not the only ones. The Raiders are still a recognized brand around the world, Raider Nation is wide spread.

Throughout the history of the Raiders they have had many well-known fans.

What I know and what we all will soon see is that in Las Vegas, the capital of entertainment, the Raiders will be a show worthy for sure. A show of characters from the early days until now. The brand has been iconic through the decades, their mystique has been made legendary and their image has been vilified.

But we love them for that, the Raider Nation has developed an “us against the world” mentality. Thanks Mr. Davis for always being a rebel. I think that he would have loved to be in Las Vegas.

The new Allegiant Stadium, which has been nicknamed the "Death Star" is set to be finished in late July and is built to hold 65,000 fans and the ability to expand that to over 70,000. With that many people and the strip there will be a great need to safely direct the flow of people. Road closures for the big day during events are coming. Here is a list.

Now speaking of character and identity of the Raiders nobody has is more important to building that winning character and culture for the silver and black than quarterback Derek Carr.

Derek Carr needs to win this year and fortunately for the fans he is highly focused.

The last time that he had weapons like this was 2016 when he put up MVP numbers. Now he has even more explosiveness and arguably better supporting cast. So I, for one, hope their identity is Super Bowl Champion. The Raiders are known for winning and what better place for winning than Las Vegas.

Will the Raiders find their identity in 2020? A better question may be how the identities of two iconic brands like Las Vegas and the Raiders merge together? So far it's been excellent and only shows to be better in the future. Let's go Raiders. Just Win Baby!

Raider Nation, is the collective name given to the team's global fan base, we are an unofficial institution with a long tradition and loyalty for our team, even as they make their move to Las Vegas. You're either a citizen of Raider Nation or you're a threat to it! Raider UP!!!
